The Rt. Rev.
Theodore Daniels is Assistant Bishop of Texas. Formerly bishop of the Virgin
Islands, Bishop Daniels has oversight of the Austin, Central and Northwest
Convocations of the diocese. His office is at the Episcopal Theological
Seminary of the Southwest, Austin.
Bishop
Daniels was born in Panama and speaks fluent Spanish. He received his
masters of divinity from the Episcopal Theological School in the Carribean
in Puerto Rico and holds a bachelor of science in economics from Florida
State University. He also has a doctor of divinity from General Theological
Seminary.
Following his
ordination to the priesthood in 1969, Bishop Daniels served several churches
in Panama, was active in Cursillo, director of youth work and served as a
college chaplain. He came to the United States as rector of St. Luke's,
Columbia, South Carolina in 1980 and later served churches in Maryland and
Washington D.C. He was elected Bishop of the Virgin Islands in 1997. During
his episcopate there, Bishop Daniels was very successful in moving the
Church to a more mission-oriented posture.
Bishop
Daniels is a member of the National Honor Society, the Order of St. Luke's
and the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. He and his wife Cristina have three
children. |
